Buy stuff. It's cool. (Ryna desperately wants an Eddi and the
Fey T-shirt.)
And while you're at it, grab the Cats
Laughing CD's - especially Another Way to
Travel which has songs from the aforementioned awesome book
on it.
And get stuff from the Flash
Girls too, because they're just that neat.
Eddi and the Fey!
Amish Smufs!
Listed on the company "sell your crap" site:
Amish Sleep Sofa - Blue Leather
Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time picturing the Amish making anything out of blue leather...
And, as an added humor bonus - fun spam email titles!
- Longer harder fiercer bangs
(Please! No! Let the 80's die!!!)
- Christian shoes
(Huh?)
Gravity Girl strikes again!
So there I was, innocently adjusting the window drapes before bed. This requires standing on the mattress, as I am short.
Enter one cat.
If you're not cringing in anticipation yet, you should be.
Foot comes down, nearly on the cat. I flail at the first hint of fur,
overbalancing, and in an amazing display of grace... fall off the bed.
Right on top of the thick glass lampshade that had been put there for safekeeping (of course).
I am thankful to report I did not require stitches. However, it is
singularly hard to apply band-aids to one's own buttocks... especially
on the left side when you're right-handed.
So please, giggle - it may be pain, but it's FUNNY pain, and SOMETHING good needs to come of this.
Book Three - Onward!
Finished editing Draft Two! I didn't curl up in a corner
weeping and vow to delete everything I'd ever written, so I consider it
an overall success.
This is not to say this book is perfect by a long shot, but that's what
editors are for! I've split them into two groups -- the ones who worked
with me on the other books will get Draft Two (because I've had years
and years of discussion with them on direction and such), and the new
folks will get Draft Three (because I need reliable people to tell me
if I'm making sense after the first group finishes with me).
In theory, if all goes well, this baby should be available in time for
MN Fest '09 (August-ish). I figure it's the year where I will have
officially been there half my life, so what better tribute to my
ongoing obsession than releasing the third part of the trilogy?
Of gel clings and ceiling fans
My partner's out of town visiting friends... what better time to redecorate the house, right?
First came the aquatic gel clings on the bathroom mirror. Cub *finally*
started carrying something summer-themed that didn't involve American
flags, and thankfully it was fish and other sea creatures (along with
some beach stuff, which will go on the glass divider of my cube at
work). Our bathroom has an aquatic theme... not so much because there's
water in the bathroom, as I suspect rules most people's decisions to
put fish decor there, but because it's painted a hideous wedding mint
aqua and I find that brightly colored fish make it look kind of cool
and intentional.
Yesterday my parents came over to give an assist (okay, Dad did almost
all the work) in replacing our dining room lamp with a ceiling fan.
Room desperately needed some air flow, and the cats were the only ones
who didn't constantly bang their heads on the old lamp. Looks awesome,
works great, and the grey cat is scared senseless of it.
I hadn't expected this; usually he's the fearless one. The other cat doesn't seem perturbed by the addition.
Huh.
We've finally gotten to the point, after much coaxing (and some treats
which he bolted down and promptly threw back up) we've decided that the
fan is okay if it's not doing anything. Running, however... different
story.
All things with time, I guess.
