... is when you've just finished a wall, and it hasn't dried yet. You stand there, looking at it in horror, thinking "by the gods, WHAT HAVE I DONE????"
You check the spot on the top of the paint can eighty times. No, really, that spot looks like the paint chip, and you saw her take the paint for the spot out of the paint can, so....
My kitchen is this hideous shade of 70's pumpkin right now. I can see the bits that are mostly dry fading into the proper shade of gingersnap. But holy cats, it's enough to make you wonder.
It does look like I'm going to have to do a couple coats. I hadn't thought it would be necessary for anything except the dark green leaves that had been splotched on, but that turquoise threading in the (what I assume was supposed to be) terra cotta is REALLY showing through.
Grr. The ugliness. Just. Won't Die.
But I shall triumph! By the day's end, there will be one more room of my house that does not offend mine eyes!

A tip for next time, paint over all either with white or with whatever they usually do before anything else when covering over something dark, and THEN do two coats of what you want. This is such a typical problem.
